Bhosari Flyover Sample Stretch

The spaces under flyovers are more like dumpyards and negative spaces which are extensively underused. This project under the initiative of PCMC, aims to revive these spaces with apt allocation of spaces and add purpose to it. This space should serve the citizens of the locality and fulfil their needs at the same time. The pockets below the flyover are divided into three functions : 1. Seating / Recreational space 2. Hawker Spaces 3. Parking Bays.

This is the 1st sample stretch of the seating / recreational pocket under the flyover. In the process of sample stretch, it’s a negotiation between us designers and the craftsmen i.e the contractor team and project management consultant team who finally execute the design on site. Some decisions on drawing also need to be verified and modified on site. These are some images of the final touch on site when the sample stretch is being executed.

A glimpse of the journey over 10 years for creating a Healthy Hygienic and Humane Aundh Neighbourhood in Pune.

Phase 2 (2013) : "Street to Neigbourhood"

In the Phase 2 the aim remained to take this approach from Street to the Neighbourhood with People Participatory Approach. The exhibition was prepared and put up by PVP College of Architecture and Prasanna Desai Architects in association with Parisar, CEE and Aundh Vikas Mandal along with other citizen bodies. This exhibition was also supported by the then Corporator Mrs. Sangita Gaikwad and Mr. Gaikwad.

This exhibition was put up on the first stretch executed i.e. ITI Road plaza for the citizens to review and give their comments on this vision of taking this approach to the neighbourhood level. The exhibition and events were attended by all the citizens, NGO's and other stakeholders of the neighbourhood.

 Site visit for the inspection of ongoing execution work at PCMC Urban Streets

PDA team meeting was held on 31st October, 2020 with all engineers and contractors for the inspection of executed work. A discussion happened about the quality of executed work and details to be followed as per site conditions.

PDA team meeting was held on 22 October, 2020 with all engineers and contractors for the inspection of executed sample stretch. There was a discussion about the materials used and how the execution was done on site.

For every project once the execution work kicks off the first priority is execute a sample stretch of 50m which would comprise of all the elements which could later be replicated by the contractor for the entire stretch.

Phase 1 (2009) : After the initiation meeting the next step was to implement the proposed section for creating a public realm along ITI Road, Pune (500m) from Parihar Chowk to Gaikwad Nagar by chalk marking to get a clear picture about the space organisation.

Various meetings were also held on site after the chalk marking between various departments, coorporator, citizens, police and other concerned people for critical decisions and opinions.

Birthday celebration of Desai sir under the tree canopy of ITI road. A great time spent with Desai sir and PDA family post lockdown. As all were stuck in lockdown, indoors and then definitely meeting after long time was great.

It was also a pleasure having the extended PDA Family on Zoom.

The ongoing work and progress was also reviewed during this visit. The site visit was attended by Corporator Mrs. Archana Musale , Adv. Madhukar Musale, Mr. Godbole (PSCDCL), Ar. Prasanna Desai and other members of the Smart City Project Management and Contractor's Team which executed this project.

Phase 3 : Aundh Neighbourhood Redevelopment under the Smart City Mission in 2016 with the help of PMC - Pune Municipal Corporation, PSCDCL - Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd. , Corporator Mrs. Archana Musale, Adv. Madhukar Musale in association with IBI, Pavetech (Project Management Consultant) and Nikhil Construction(Contractor).

Walkathon organised on 1st October 2020 at the Aundh Smart Street : ITI Road

An initiative of smart city mission organised by Corporator Mrs. Archana Musale and Adv. Madhukar Musale to motivate and encourage walking seamlessly at the Aundh Smart Street network. The walkathon was also graced by the presence of Hon. CEO (Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd.) Dr. Sanjay Kolte, Corporator Mrs. Archana Musale, Adv. Madhukar Musale, members of various NGO’s, Citizens and organisations in the Aundh Neighbourhood.
