International Film Festival- Architecture and Urbanism, Pune

PDA Team spent a day at "International Film Festival - Architecture and Urbanism, Pune" presented by India House Art Gallery and National Film Archive of India
We watched various movies on the making of famous buildings such as the Gherkin, Sydney Opera House and movies based on urbanism and sustainability.
The film festival ended with the movie, " Into the Unknown " based on Charles Correa's 'The Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown' directed by Sankalp Meshram who later talked about his movie making journey with Ar. Charles Correa.

The Street's Serenity at Six
The uniform vocabulary of the street with all the elements bring about a particular character, which creates a nostalgia. These elements make the street one of its kind. The calmness is a product of all the features that blend perfectly with the character. Morning scene is a perfect Gate - away from the daily hub dub of the city. One can experience this place with its uniqueness, as if quite words of poetry are being whispered in the ears.
The serenity which is evident from the pictures is transformed into a spurring symphony with people of different ages, professions, backgrounds crowding the " Mall under the Tree Canopy" by evening. The quietness in the morning is perfectly juxtaposed with the liveliness of the street in the later hours of the day.

Trees are like our grand parents.
They are always standing for us in every situation. They always have something for everyone,
In return we can at least give them the little space they deserve.
We gave the trees their own space and look what we got.
The trees have transformed the street ambiance, and people seem to be enjoying it.

Ar. B.V. Doshi Sir visited the Smart Street at Aundh, Pune
on 8th July, 2018.
The walk started in a perfect afternoon weather as the Pritzker Award Laureate
along with
Ar. Radhika Kathpalia acknowledged the elements and process of design.
Ar. Doshi closely observed all the details and also captured images of the streetscape through his curious eyes and camera.
At the end of the walk, Ar. Doshi complimented the team and said that this is a path breaking work in public domain and hoped that it would inspire many more cities in years to come.
